Lunch Club

I am a volunteer with Age Concern Wiltshire.

The charity has an initiative to set up Lunch Clubs in rural areas for the 50+ age group.

The aim is to foster relationships amongst the retired community through social gatherings and to set up informal local networks to provide support for those members in times of need.

Providing there is sufficient interest (10 people) it is planned to meet once a quarter in a local hostelry for lunch. The cost for a two-course lunch is estimated at £10 per person. (Drinks excluded)

The first outing is planned for March 2009.

If anybody is interested please contact me by the end of December.

Kids Football Club - Ramsbury

Many of the children from Ogbourne St George attend the Ramsbury football club which is a 10 minute drive away.

The club has a strong membership. Training takes place Saturday mornings with most matches played on a Sunday.

The club runs teams Under 7 through to Under 12 .

Kids as young and two and three enjoy training with Chris and his son Jordan whilst their older brothers and sisters train!

It’s run by the entire Bathe family (mum, dad, boys and girls) from the village and a number of the other parents are involved in running training and teams for the different age groups.

Cubs

Cub Camp PhotoThe village is too small to support a cub or scout pack. Children attend either the packs at Aldbourne, Chiseldon or Marlborough.

The scouting movement offers the children a great opportunity to try things that many families don’t or can’t do.

The cub packs for example will go on a number of camps each year and try abseiling, climbing, shooting, archery, canoeing, sailing, tracking, night hikes, cooking and of course making fires (a popular thing for small boys!).

Contact Details are scouts.jpg

Aldbourne Cubs - Graham Edmondson Tel (01672 541187)
There are other packs at Marlborough and Chiseldon (couldn’t find any contact details - if you have them please let us know)

If any children want to attend the Aldbourne cubs, Ben Scott and James Crawshaw attend. Paul Scott is happy to drive (Tel: 841331 or speak to Ben)
