Junior Golf Lessons and Opportunities
With the school summer holidays approaching, now might be a good time to check the Wiltshire Golf Partnership for details on the Summer opportunities for junior golf both locally and around the county.
Yoga Classes
Lizzy Hawnt (who lives here in Ogbourne St.George and is a fully qualified yoga teacher) is running Yoga classes for all abilities in and around the Marlborough area. Several villagers are already attending and enjoying these classes. If you would like to join in as well, please contact Lizzy Hawnt on 01672 841553, 07821 396 430 or e-mail hawnted.house@btinternet.com
Cubs and Scouts
The village is too small to support a cub pack or scout troop. Children attend either the packs at Aldbourne, Chiseldon or Marlborough.
www.1stchiseldon.org.uk is the website for the Chiseldon Group.
Scouting offers fun, challenge and everyday adventure to 400,000 girls and boys across the UK. Offering over 200 different activities from abseiling and archery to drama, street sports and water zorbing, Scouting helps 6-25 year olds grow in confidence, achieve their full potential and become active members of their communities.
The Programme is a seamless progression of training, activities and awards for young people aged 6 to 25. The Programme is delivered in five age groups, called Sections.
- Beaver Scouts (6-8 years)
- Cub Scouts (8-10½ years)
- Scouts (10½-14 years)
- Explorer Scouts (14-18 years)
- Scout Network (18-25 years)
The Programme aims to help young people to grow in a number of personal development areas to ensure the young people themselves really are ‘learning by doing.’ie camping, abseiling, climbing, shooting, archery, canoeing, sailing, tracking, night hikes, cooking and of course making fires ![]()

Lunch Club
I am a volunteer with Age Concern Wiltshire.
The charity has an initiative to set up Lunch Clubs in rural areas for the 50+ age group.
The aim is to foster relationships amongst the retired community through social gatherings and to set up informal local networks to provide support for those members in times of need.
Providing there is sufficient interest (10 people) it is planned to meet once a quarter in a local hostelry for lunch. The cost for a two-course lunch is estimated at £10 per person. (Drinks excluded)
The first outing is planned for March 2009.
If anybody is interested please contact me by the end of December.
